Film Reel
About
I wanted my film reel to feel like a passage in time. I am not going into film and television, so I did not feel like I had to show off what I could really do and instead make it feel more personal. I had gone through a lot and I still am to get to where I am, so I knew I would not be able to make something upbeat and showcase the work I have done on a film level. Instead, I made it feel like a passage in time and looking back at what I have done. I wanted the music choice to be sad but what was being shown is happy so it makes it feel like a goodbye.
I do feel like it shows part of me as a film creator. I have so many different styles and can adapt really easily to someone else's work. I have a strong love for black and white because I believe that whatever you are showcasing has to stand on its own. You can look at something and see what it is showing but also can see what it isn't showing. I brand myself as so many different things because I truly feel like I can do all of those things. You should never brand yourself as one specific thing because then you'll get stuck and might be unwanted. Instead, I like to branch out and truly see what I can do and what I like to do.
Different & Same
Something I would honestly do differently is to not edit the whole film reel in one day. I felt rushed and very stressed. I also towards the end wanted to just be done with it but still make something that I like. One thing I would do the same is to keep the feel of the film reel. I really like the story I told and it feels like the last goodbye. In conclusion, I really like how my film reel turned out. I probably needed to spend a little bit more time on it, but overall I think it is a strong film reel.
